A picture of King Faisal as foreign minister in 1946 was published in Saudi Arabian high-school history textbooks. But the books are being replaced, because it wasn’t the original picture. Next to Faisal as he signed the U.N. Charter, the altered photograph showed someone who is not from Saudi Arabia — or even Earth: Yoda from Star Wars. “I am the one who designed it,” said artist Abdulla Al Shehri, “but I am not the one who put it in the book.” Shehri, who has produced other works adding fictional characters to photographs, said he meant the pairing as a mark of respect for the king, who “was wise and was always strong in his speeches.” The Saudi education ministry said it was investigating how the fanart got into the textbook. (AC/New York Times) ...On the bright side, it was Yoda, not Muhammad.
