StealthWear Protective Clothing of Toronto, Ont., Canada, says it sells its products to most school boards in Ontario. Its products: padded clothing to protect school employees from violent children, particularly “special needs” students who have been mainstreamed into regular classrooms. Shin guards, forearm padding, reinforced gloves and more, which “provides excellent resistance to pinches, bites, scratches and hits,” the company says on its website. The Ottawa Catholic School Board has a “wide inventory” of the products, spokeswoman Mardi de Kemp says. The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board says its staff were victims of violent attacks 4,233 times — in the first seven months of the school year.
