Face (and Throwing the) Book

Two London, Ky., teenagers wanted to pull a prank to share on social media. So, the local sheriff’s office says, they went to the freezer at a Dunkin’ Donuts and, video rolling, took an ice-cream cake. Confronted by workers, one of the pranksters profanely exclaimed that the cake was now his. Since it was just a $25-30 cake, the prank could have been prosecuted as misdemeanor theft, but officers charged felony burglary instead. “We’re really going to jail for this?” said one of the teenagers. “Stealing is stealing,” said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo. (AC/Lexington Herald) ...And petty theft is felony burglary.
