Someone called police to report bundles of marijuana washing up on the beach in Flagler County, Fla., and a man was trying to open the packages and take some of the pot. When deputies arrived they asked Robert Kelley if he’d taken some of the marijuana, and he allegedly pointed at his vehicle and said he was holding it there “for them.” But, they said, he didn’t call them to report the drugs, and didn’t flag them down when they arrived, so they doubted he was trying to collect evidence for them. A search of his trunk uncovered about 11 pounds of suspected marijuana — wrapped in a beach towel in an apparent attempt to conceal it. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams. “Thanks to the joint effort of our citizens’ watchful eyes and good police work, these narcotics are off the streets,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “To anyone thinking they can take advantage of marijuana washing up on shore, I have a warning for you.
