Freak of Nomenclature, Nemo Edition
Surfer Joel Mason, 36, was the victim of a shark attack off the coast of New South Wales, Australia. After receiving five deep lacerations to one of his lower legs, he swam to a nearby break wall where a passerby spotted him and called emergency services. “He’s surfed since he was 5 or 6 years old,” Mason’s father said. “He loves to surf early and he loves to surf by himself, which is sort of a bit risky.” Mason, who has jokingly referred to himself in the past as “Shark Bait,” was hospitalized in stable condition.
