Freak of Nomenclature, South Florida Division
Seventh-grader Abriya McGee says she was approached by a man in Sunrise, Fla., who got upset when she refused to tell him how old she is. “He told me to get the F in the car twice,” she says, “and that is when I turned around and I ran.” She found a crossing guard near her school, who called police, and Abriya helped officers identify and capture the suspect. Police say they believe the same man is involved in three other attempted child abduction cases. Her father had seen the news report on the earlier cases, and “we brought both my daughters in and we had them watch the clip,” he says, adding that may have saved the girl’s life. The suspect, Jesus Condom, 26, who has previously served hard time twice, told a judge he “found God in prison.” She declared Condom a danger to the community and children in particular, and ordered him held on $100,002 bail.
