Gearing Up
The giant stolen colon is still missing (This is True, last week). The 10-foot-long, 150-pound, $4,000 inflatable model of a human colon was swiped in Kansas City, Mo. The story got lots of publicity, says the spokeswoman for its non-profit owner, Get Your Rear in Gear. “It’s been a crazy, crazy week,” says Stacie Moody. “The rate of young people getting colon cancer is so high now,” and publicity from the theft has helped get the word out that colon cancer screening needs to start by age 45. A drug company has pledged enough money to replace the educational aid, but Moody says it would be nice to get the original back — and promises not to press charges “if it’s returned before too much longer.” (RC/WDAF Kansas City) ...She can only hold it for so long.Original Publication Date: 28 October 2018
