Getting Some Air
An Indian River County sheriff’s deputy patrolling in Vero Beach, Fla., couldn’t help but notice: a man was “surfing” atop a moving — and unoccupied — car. When the deputy activated his emergency lights to pull the man over, he jumped off the roof, ran alongside the car, reached in the window, and jammed the stolen Camaro into park — the deputy could hear the gears grinding. The “driver” then “threw his arms and hands up in the air while facing me and laid his body face down on the ground,” the deputy says, and then volunteered, “there is weed in the car.” Nicholas Christopher Yepez, 33, was arrested on “multiple charges,” and his bail was set at $23,000.
