Got It Right the Second Time
When Marty Walsh won the recent election for mayor of Boston, Mass., Vice President Joe Biden wanted to congratulate him. “You son of a gun, Marty!” he bellowed when Marty Walsh, a former aide to Sen. Edward Kennedy, answered the phone. “You did it!” But the man on the phone was not the Marty Walsh who won the election. After he explained to the Vice President that he had made a mistake, Biden then congratulated him for not being elected mayor. “I probably know eight Marty Walshes,” the not-mayor said later. “We’re a dime a dozen in Boston.” (RC/Boston Globe, AP) ...Which is a lot more than a dozen average politicians are worth.Original Publication Date: 17 November 2013
