Guaranteed Employment for 101 Years
Kristi Lyn Goss, 44, was an administrative assistant to a county judge in Hot Springs, Ark. She was issued a county credit card for job-related purchases, but some of the charges didn’t seem very “job-related” to auditors. Items she charged included a diamond bracelet, hotel gift cards, sequin throw pillows, and a tiny tuxedo for her dog. Goss pleaded guilty to multiple counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and was sentenced to 20 years of probation — during which time she must pay $366,000 in restitution at the rate of “at least” $300 per month. “The stress of her job and the supporting her entire household was too much for her,” the probation report noted, citing her side of the story.
