Here’s to Him Getting What He Deserves
After the shootings at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla. [This is True, 13 June 2016], Kenneth Adkins, 56, the pastor of a church with branches in Atlanta and Brunswick, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla., posted his thoughts on Twitter. “I don’t see none of them as victims,” he wrote. “I see them as getting what they deserve.” Adkins, who also runs a political public relations firm and campaigned against extending Jacksonville’s anti-discrimination law to cover the LGBT community, recently admitted he lied when he said a state representative had endorsed one of his clients, but added that “Politics is lying and stretching the truth.” That’s not why he’s now in jail in Brunswick: he is accused of child molestation and aggravated child molestation of a 15-year-old boy. The judge in the case has ruled Adkins is a flight risk, and has denied him bail while he awaits trial; he faces life in prison.
