Impartial
Employees at Sammy’s Grill in Baton Rouge, La., called the sheriff on a customer who got into an argument with another customer, a woman, and called her the “N word” twice. Sheriff’s deputies responded, assisting a deputy who was already at the restaurant during the argument, but no charges against Mike Erwin, 67, have been filed. Manager Andy McKay says Erwin, a regular customer, is banned from coming again. “We do not want Judge Erwin’s business anymore,” McKay says, a move that’s backed by the owner. Wait... “Judge” Erwin? Yes: Erwin, 67 is the most senior State District Judge in Baton Rouge. He declined to comment to reporters. (RC/Baton Rouge Advocate) ...“I, ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the constitution and laws of the United States and the constitution and laws of this state and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as Judge, according to the best of my ability and understanding, so help me God.” —Louisiana’s Oath of Office for judges.Original Publication Date: 12 February 2017
