Insecure

Craig Lucas is upset. He got a new car, but “left it in his garage” because the license plate series in Orange County, Fla., starts with “GAY”. Actually, the plates are a series from “GAYA01” through “GAYW35” but, because of the plate design, there’s a gap after the first three characters. He says “GAY” is “slightly offensive,” and the state says that anyone who doesn’t like any plate they get can drop by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and exchange them. “Plenty of combinations out there the state could have used,” Lukas complained. “Oversight on state as far as I’m concerned.” (RC/WFTV Orlando) ...Meanwhile, there’s tremendous demand in Florida from people like Lucas for the DUMB01 through DUMB99 series.
