Alexandria Vera, 24, a teacher at Stovall Middle School in Aldine, Texas, faces 25 years to life in prison after allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old student “almost daily” for nine months. Vera didn’t hide the relationship from the boy’s parents: she says she was introduced as “his girlfriend” at the school’s open house, and his parents not only invited her to family gatherings, they were “very supportive and excited” when they found out she was pregnant by their son. She later “got nervous” and had an abortion. (RC/Houston Chronicle) ...Is that why they turned her in?Story Update: Vera pleaded guilty in exchange for a lesser sentence, but still got 10 years in prison. “We want teachers to educate our children,” declared Judge Michael McSpadden from the bench. “We want teachers to keep their hands off of them.” He added that the sentence is “fair warning to teachers: if you conduct this kind of crime in the future, you will face a severe punishment.” As of mid-2026 her prison record showed she became eligible for parole on 12 January 2022, but her projected release date still shows 12 January 2027.
