Judgment and Collection

Roger Hoeppner said he called his lawyer when he spotted deputies outside his home. The lawyer said he tried to go there, but authorities blocked him. And when Hoeppner didn’t emerge, they called in a military-style armored vehicle. That’s saying nothing about 24 armed officers. Hoeppner is 75 and not considered dangerous. Stettin, Wisc., and Marathon County authorities came to his home to seize assets to sell to pay a judgment. The case originally involved signs, messes on Hoeppner’s property, and a business in a town with agricultural-residential zoning, but after it settled, Hoeppner was found to have violated a court order. Once the armored vehicle arrived, Hoeppner agreed to go with deputies to a bank and pay $80,000. (AC/Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) ...It’s amazing what you can accomplish with 24 cops and a military vehicle.
