Just (Don’t) Do It
According to Stephen Martin, his Colorado Springs Prime Time Sports store is the only fully licensed, full service, National Football League fan shop between Castle Rock, Colo., and the New Mexico border. Martin also has strong feelings about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to kneel in protest during the national anthem. When Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall followed suit, Martin canceled an autograph session with Marshall in his store. And when Nike ran ads featuring Kaepernick last fall, Martin removed all Nike merchandise from his store in protest. Now, declining sales have forced Martin to shut down the store after 20 years. “As much as I hate to admit this,” Martin said, “perhaps there are more Brandon Marshall and Colin Kaepernick supporters out there than I realized.” (MS/KOAA Pueblo) ...His sales went “swoosh”.Original Publication Date: 24 February 2019
