Just Try to Blend In

The driver of a stolen car jumped out and ran, and thus got away from police in Madera, Calif. Officers fanned out and spotted a possible suspect — a Hispanic man who in the meantime had grabbed a can of spray paint and sprayed his face black. “He was trying to hide against a white wall, so he really stood out,” said police Sgt. Dan Foss. Jose Espinoza, 23, is “kind of a frequent flier” — well known to officers from previous arrests, Foss said, perhaps explaining Espinoza’s desire for a disguise. He had the keys for the stolen car in his pocket, officers say, and the paint can was also recovered. Espinoza has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of stolen property. (RC/Los Angeles Times) ...It should have worked: the police never pay attention to black people.
