Lesson Not Learned
The Monroe County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office got a report of a suicidal party at a house in Key Largo. When a deputy arrived and knocked on the front door, a man inside yelled “Come in!” The deputy walked in and when the homeowner saw who it was, he uttered a curse: he was allegedly in the process of preparing marijuana for sale. When the deputy asked the man for identification, Joseph Ebeling, 49, replied, “I can’t go to jail for this. I was arrested by you guys 10 years ago for the same thing.” A search found 124 pot plants in all, and Ebeling was indeed arrested, charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of a felony amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. (RC/Florida Keys Keynoter) ...So apparently he was not, in fact, suicidal. At least, not until the cops arrived.Original Publication Date: 24 June 2012
