Light Hearts Meet Heavy Hands

A group of men who raise money each year for the Ludlow Hospital in Shropshire, England, raised 2,500 pounds (US$3,400) this year. Their annual “light-hearted” stunt to raise funds has them dressed up as nurses, and push a bed around town. But this year, when they presented their proceeds to the hospital, Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust chief executive Jan Ditheridge refused the money. “The presentation of men dressed as female nurses in a highly-sexualised and demeaning way is wrong, very outdated and insulting to the profession,” she wrote in a letter explaining her decision.
