Lottery Loser

Towanda A. Shields “plays lottery lot and gets very upset by the fact she doesn’t win,” said Detective Robert Appleby of the Lower Swatara Township (Pa.) Police. State lottery employees, police said, have been getting threatening phone calls and voice mails from Shields. “She went as far as saying she had paid some guys to hurt the people,” said the detective. “The threats got worse and worse.” Appleby said Shields thought the lottery was engaged in a “conspiracy” against her — and that she was protected from prosecution by “freedom of speech” — and by using “burner phones” to call in the threats. Nevertheless, a warrant was issued for her arrest. (AC/Harrisburg Patriot-News) ...The conspiracy is bigger than she thought.
