Monkey Business
A police officer patrolling in Des Moines, Iowa, noticed a man coming out of a Git-N-Go convenience store. Then a store employee flagged him down to say the man had trashed the place, and then left without paying. The officer stopped Preston James Phipps, 24, and says Phipps quickly went from “passive to aggressive” and attacked him with one of the allegedly stolen items. Specifically, the officer says, Phipps hit him in the face with a stuffed monkey. Phipps was arrested and charged with theft, disorderly conduct, and assault on a police officer. (RC/Des Moines Register) ...Just be glad he didn’t steal a bag of hammers.Original Publication Date: 05 February 2012
