My Big Fat Greek Burglary

An officer investigated after discovering a smashed glass door at a Delray Beach, Fla., cell phone store. Burglars had shut off the building’s power to disable surveillance cameras and alarms. Investigators were unable to find any fingerprints — but an officer smelled window cleaner, and discovered a bottle of Windex. “The suspect used Windex to remove his fingerprints from the displays and surrounding area,” he noted in his report, “but forgot to remove his fingerprints from the bottle itself.” The fingerprints matched Jonathan Dorce, 19, who allegedly told police he tried to pour out the Windex on an alarm after it went off, then ran off with about eight phones. According to police, Dorce also said he and his accomplice weren’t able to use the phones after charging them, so they threw them in a dumpster. Dorce was charged with burglary and grand theft, and held on $13,000 bond. (MS/South Florida Sun Sentinel) ...That’s a lot of work for one phone call.
