On the Off Road
According to police, Shadrach Yasiah was stuck in construction zone traffic in Lincoln, Neb. He spotted a 24-foot gap in the cones and, thinking it was an opening to a turn lane, navigated a path he thought would take him around the line of cars. It wasn’t a turn lane: Yasiah found himself driving on freshly poured concrete that had been treated with white cure, making it appear dry. Police didn’t cite him, but city engineer Thomas Shafer said Yasiah will be responsible for the cost of removing the car, scraping out the ruined slurry, and pouring new concrete, at an estimated cost of $10,000.
