Open Door Policy

“I understand somebody had people living in the garage,” says Auburn Greens, Calif., resident Sally Ia. “I don’t. I am following the rules.” She’s upset by a new policy announced by the Homeowners Association: residents with garages are required to keep them open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, or face a $200 fine. “Fine, let me give you the $200 fine right now,” Ia said. “Give me a month so I can get my stuff out.” Nine-year-old Jason also doesn’t like the policy. “I don’t think it’s a good idea because they are going to steal my bike. I’ve got an electric scooter, I’ve got an electric wheelchair, I’ve got all kinds of stuff,” he said. “So, I just don’t think it’s very good to have it open.” The HOA didn’t return calls seeking comment, and its office wasn’t open during its posted business hours. (MS/KTXL Sacramento) ...Did they try the garage?
