A train was moving slowly through New Jersey when a worker on board spotted something on a Paterson bridge: a man with his pants down, reportedly making a solid contribution to the Passaic River. The worker tried to prevent the train from hitting the apparent defecator, but the man ended up being retrieved, screaming, from the icy river by emergency personnel, who brought him to a hospital. A New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway representative said a train struck someone, but police reports left open the possibility that the man chose to jump rather than be hit by the train.
