Priceless Memories, With a Price

Devon Silvey, 27, sold his car for $6,500. Since it was a Sunday he couldn’t deposit the cash, so he stashed it in his family’s home — in a travel mug that he’d kept as a childhood souvenir. A few days later, Silvey’s mom Lindsay Preiss was cleaning up and put the mug in a box she later took to the Goodwill store in Conyers, Ga. Preiss said she felt “like the worst mom in the world.” The family called Goodwill: their security footage showed a worker pricing the mug and putting in a bin to be placed on the shelves, where they assume it was sold, probably for a dollar or so, including the bundle of cash. “At first I thought it was a joke or a prank or something like that,” Silvey said. “She thought I was upset about the mug being gone,” he said, but admitted, “I miss the mug as well.” (MS/WSB Atlanta) ...Whoever bought the mug now has a whole new idea of what “Goodwill” means.
