Protest Reformation

Philip A. Contos, 55, was riding his motorcycle in Onondaga, N.Y., with a “large group” of bikers as part of an organized protest sponsored by the group “American Bikers Aimed Towards Education” — protesting the state’s law requiring motorcyclists to wear helmets. Troopers say at one point Contos slammed on his brakes; he went over the handlebars and his head struck the pavement. Investigators — and the emergency room doctor who pronounced him dead — say Contos would have survived the crash had he been wearing a helmet. (RC/Syracuse Post-Standard) ...Not the first protester to be self-ABATEd.
