Putting the Hammer Down
The giant stolen hammer is still missing (This is True, last week). The 21-foot-long, 800-pound, $15,000 sculpture of a hammer was stolen in Healdsburg, Calif. But someone planted a clue in the lawn where the hammer was taken from in front of the city’s Community Center: a giant nail. The word “bait” was pounded into its metal head, in case the irony wasn’t obvious. “I would suspect it would be something along the lines of a prank,” said Darryl Erkel, the police officer investigating the theft.
