Stewart Gosling was caught hauling waste in his work van without a license, so Waltham Forest Council, England, officials imposed a fine. “If waste is being stored in a commercial refuse bag in a trader’s van it is necessary that they have a valid waste carriers’ license,” said a council spokesman. But Gosling says the 300 pound (US$382) fine shows “a lack of common sense.” After all, it was hardly industrial waste. “There was just a bag of rubbish, bottles, crisp packets, newspapers, and sandwich wrappers.” (AC/London Telegraph) ...Someone should go to Council offices and fine them for storing waste under their desks.Original Publication Date: 12 August 2018
