Save the Fish

She “felt she was rescuing the live fish from the market and making it possible for the fish to live.” Such, according to the East Bay, Calif., Regional Park District, was the motive of a woman accused of introducing nine individuals of an invasive species into Lake Chabot. The species: tilapia, an inexpensive, mild flavored fish commonly served for dinner. Officials hoped the cold weather would kill the fish before they did significant damage to the ecosystem, such as by eating existing species’ food, or even their young. As for the unnamed woman, she could end up in jail for six months. (AC/East Bay Times, KTVU Oakland) ...Where maybe, just maybe, they’ll serve her tilapia.
