Semi Coherent
A Ventura County, Calif., sheriff’s deputy was assisting a motorist when a semi truck passed by, and something caught the cop’s eye, so he pulled it over. The driver, says Senior Deputy David Anaya, appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and sure enough he discovered meth in the truck. Also, truck driver Jorge Salazar, 41, had a warrant out for his arrest in a hit-and-run case, and was allegedly driving without a valid license. He was arrested. The truck was impounded, too: what “really caught” Dep. Anaya’s eye was its license plate, which was hand made and read across the top, in the place the state name should be, “Califas” — Chicano slang for California.
