“What happens in the spring is, the snakes will start emerging here pretty soon probably within the next two weeks,” says Nathan Hawkins of Big Country Snake Removal in Abilene, Texas. Rattlesnakes, that is, and in the spring, “they’re going to start trying to find food and then they’re going to start breeding.” The season started early for him, though, when a homeowner called for him to come clear out his crawl space since the cable TV repairman said there were “a few” snakes in there. Hawkins pulled out 45 rattlesnakes from under the house. (RC/KTXS Abilene) ...Everything’s bigger in Texas — even the nightmares.
