A customer was caught on a security camera stealing custom pool sticks, motorcycle helmets, and about $500 in cash from a bar in Glendale, Ariz. The cash was in a donation jar for a regular customer who was recovering from a motorcycle crash. “It’s just a shame that somebody would come in and stick their hand in a cookie jar and take money from somebody who really needs the money,” said bar owner Mitch Stevens. Instead of calling police, though, Stevens decided to give the thief a chance to return the items: he posted the surveillance video on Facebook. The video went viral, and other customers helped identify the man. “He contacted another friend and said, ‘Hey, I’ve been caught bring back my stuff’,” Stevens said. “So we did get the helmets, the pool sticks, everything else returned, but the money.” Except the thief’s family also saw the story on social media and gave the bar $560 in cash to refill the donation jar. The bar owners said the family apologized for their son’s behavior, but didn’t know where he was. (MS/KPHO Phoenix) ...Maybe they should ask Facebook.Original Publication Date: 18 December 2016
