That’s Not What We Meant by ‘Recycling’

“It was a method by which one could earn good money with relatively little investment,” said the lawyer, but his client got 10 months in jail for it. The unnamed 37-year-old client, who sold drinks in Cologne, Germany, spent about 5,000 euros modifying a bottle-redemption machine so it would return the bottle to him instead of destroying it. Then he sat by the machine, feeding in the same bottle over and over in order to get a quarter “back” for “recycling” the bottle 177,451 times, for a total of 44,362.75 euros (US$47,210) in cash. (AC/Local Germany) ...The crime may have been more tedious than the punishment.
