The Flying Dutchman

A man in Ijsselstein, Holland, arranged to descend by crane into his girlfriend’s garden and serenade her before popping the Big Question. The crane fell over. He jumped. When people attempted to put the crane back on its wheels, it fell again. A neighbor’s roof was bashed in — “the people in the house the crane fell on are deeply shocked,” said Jelle Mulder of emergency services — and authorities may order the house destroyed. Be that as it may, the man proceeded with his question and, finally, something went as he wanted. The newly engaged couple, after getting a green light from police, left on vacation. (AC/AP, AFP) ...But will the neighbors be as happy to see them come back?
