The Jessica Method
“Something I appreciate about being on the train is I can rest or relax,” says Jessica Method, 23, who commutes from San Jose, Calif., by train to her job at Stanford University. But on the way home one night, she relaxed too much — she fell asleep on the train. “I woke up and I was on the train and there was nobody on the train and then I realized I was in the train yard,” she said. It was past midnight, she was locked in, and her cell phone was dead. She found the conductor’s car unlocked, and was able to use the train’s radio to call for help. Caltrain officials said employees were disciplined for not making sure the cars were empty before leaving it.
