The Just Man and the Nice Man
“Get out! I have a gun!” cried a homeowner who’d awoken to the sounds of a burglary in progress at his Bremerton, Wash., home. The burglar replied “Yes, sir!” and fled, leaving a lot of the loot behind. That afternoon, the burglar called with what police Sgt. Kevin Crane called a “very unusual” offer: he’d return the stolen goods if the homeowner would return his left-behind property — including his identification — and not call the police. But when the burglar turned up to carry out the transaction, the cops were waiting. The burglar, Crane said, was arrested, and apologized to the homeowner. (AC/KOMO Seattle) ...Of course, it would have been even nicer of him not to commit the burglary in the first place.Original Publication Date: 13 May 2012
