The Show Must Go On
After pulling over a car for a busted headlight in Sheboygan, Wisc., sheriff’s deputies realized that driver David Neese, 61, was wanted for theft. When the deputies tried to arrest him, they say Neese told them he couldn’t be arrested because he was performing in a play the next day, promised to turn himself in after the show, and sped off. Once they got Neese stopped again, a deputy told him, “We’re not doing this again. Turn the engine off and get out of the car.” But Neese took off again, they say, and the pursuit continued until they used road spikes to stop the vehicle and arrest him. Neese was scheduled to perform in the Calumet County Community Theatre’s production of “Noises Off” — a farce — but missed the show.
