This Bud’s for You

An offer to buy a law-enforcement officer some Bud Light may cost a North Carolina state judge his job; it’s already helped make him a convicted felon. Wayne County Judge Arnold O. Jones II offered local sheriff’s deputy Matthew Miller two cases of beer — he later substituted cash — to get text messages the judge’s wife had exchanged with another man. The defense argued, unsuccessfully, that Miller failed to tell the judge he needed a warrant for such snooping. The defense also complained the judge was arrested at gunpoint in a “SWAT-team-like raid,” and brought into court in shackles. (AC/Raleigh News and Observer) ...Should that be corrected to “the felon was arrested and shackled” or “the nonviolent suspect” was?
