Thou Hart God
Ben Hart’s personalized license plate said “IM GOD” but when he moved to Kentucky and tried to get the same plate there, he was turned down. At first the Division of Motor Vehicles said it was “obscene or vulgar”; then it stepped down to “not in good taste.” The state’s ACLU and the Freedom From Religion Foundation are now suing on Hart’s behalf to get the plate approved. “Just as others may select religious messages” for their plates, said an FFRF lawyer, “Mr. Hart, an atheist, has a right to comment on religion.” (AC/WDRB Louisville) ...He can claim to be God, but the DMV can’t.Original Publication Date: 04 December 2016
