Thrill Ride II

A 2-year-old boy was jumping on his bed in Chelsea, Mass., when “an unlucky bounce” launched him out the window. His room was on the house’s second floor. “He fell about 16 feet onto concrete,” says Deputy Fire Chief John Quatieri, who was among those dispatched to aid the boy. But the boy, his uncle says, “never goes anywhere” without his 2-foot stuffed toy cow — apparently not even when jumping on the bed — and the toy broke his fall. “He had some abrasions and a laceration on his forehead, but we think he’s going to be OK,” Quatieri said. Kids falling through open windows “Tends to happen more in the summer,” Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes offers, “when people have their windows opened.” (RC/Boston Globe) ...Better than the winter cases, when the kids ram through shards of glass.
