“She said that my head scarf was out of dress code and my dress was too short,” Joselyn Lewis said. So Lewis, whose T shirt dress depicted Marilyn Monroe, demanded to see the dress code that applied to her. But, she said, the school official confronting her called the police, “and I guess he was coming to tell me to leave.” And that, Lewis said, meant she couldn’t enroll her daughter at Madison High School in Houston, Texas.
