“Did you just give me 40 years, sir?” Ricky Hand asked his judge after being sentenced on multiple charges, including breaking and entering, safe-cracking, and aggravated robbery. “You just gave me 40 years ... Well, guess what?” He completed his remarks in symbolic form, drawing from a sling on his arm a bottle of feces and throwing it. It struck not the judge, but his own lawyer. Deputies at the Clark County, Ohio, courtroom took Hand down, and he was charged with harassing four deputies and the lawyer with bodily substances. A sergeant said defendants coming to court from jail did not routinely get patted down, but Sheriff Gene Kelly said someone should have searched Hand. (AC/Springfield News-Sun) ...Don’t give him any song and dance when a search could have stopped this from getting out of hand.
