Warm Fuzzies

In the runup to Christmas, someone left 20–30 pieces of warm clothing in a public park in Indianapolis, Ind. Scarves, hats, and gloves were carefully hung on trees, bushes, and statues with notes saying, “I’m not ‘lost’, I was left here FOR YOU! Enjoy the warmth, and hugs from this old lady’s creation!” The effort is “very cool,” says Steve Kerr, a spokesman for a nearby mission. “Groups like this who send messages saying ‘you’re not alone’ is a powerful message to someone experiencing homelessness.” But a spokesman for the Indiana War Memorial Museum, which manages the park, asks citizens who want to leave clothes in the park to come by and ask them about it first. (RC/WXIN Indianapolis) ...So they can say “No!”
Author’s Note: This was an early example of a phenomenon covered again in “Pretty Cool” in Volume 30.
