If At First You Don’t Succeed
The Vatican is jumping into the entertainment business again, despite what happened last time, when the 16-year-old girl who played the Virgin Mary was “thrilled” to be pregnant when her film premiered at the Holy See. This time, it’s their first-ever commissioned musical, Mary of Nazareth, A Story that Goes On, which will premiere in the Vatican’s Paul VI Auditorium. Fr. Stefano De Flores, who was a consultant for the production, says “Mary is truly the biggest female celebrity in history,” and the show addresses “the need to bring the figure of the Virgin up to date, showing her as a humble Jewish woman.” The music was written by Stelvio Cipriani, 70, who is best known for his movie scores, including the hardcore flick Black Orgasm and The House of the Cursed Spirits. (London Telegraph) …You know, I can hardly wait for the third part of this trilogy.

This page is an example of my style of “Thought-Provoking Entertainment”. This is True is an email newsletter that uses “weird news” as a vehicle to explore the human condition in an entertaining way. If that sounds good, click here to open a subscribe form.
To really support This is True, you’re invited to sign up for a subscription to the much-expanded “Premium” edition:
Q: Why would I want to pay more than the minimum rate?
A: To support the publication to help it thrive and stay online: this kind of support means less future need for price increases (and smaller increases when they do happen), which enables more people to upgrade. This option was requested by existing Premium subscribers.
