Wheels on the Bus Go ...Not
Kendra Lindon was a bus driver in Calgary, Alta., Canada. One morning, with temperatures around 20 below, her bus wouldn’t start. Her employer, First Student Canada, said a replacement bus would pick up the students, but Lindon had her doubts. “A lot of the times they wait probably 15, 20 minutes and then they don’t know if a bus is coming,” she said. So she picked them up herself, in her own SUV, driving 6 children — 2 without seatbelts — to school. One of the parents reported Lindon and she was fired the same day. Other parents, however, applauded her. “My philosophy is, you’re doing the right thing, you’re helping these kids out, you’re keeping them out of the cold, you’re offering them at least a warm place to stay,” said parent Linda Sakatch. (MS/CTV Calgary) ...And 4 out of the 6 kids agree.Original Publication Date: 23 March 2014
