An Alarming Event

Boynton Beach, Fla., police received a phone call from a Texas Roadhouse restaurant, saying they heard beeping in the dumpster behind the kitchen; they feared it was a bomb. “It’s better to be safe than sorry,” police Capt. Paul Deale said. “We have to take it to the highest protocol.” Phillip Durand and his fiancee were waiting for their dinner when they saw employees running from the kitchen. “I look, and I see everyone frantically running for the door,” Durand said. The staff apparently let the customers fend for themselves. Staff and diners waited in the parking lot while the bomb squad was dispatched. When they arrived they were able to identify the source of the beeping: a battery-operated thermometer. (MS/Palm Beach Post) ...Safety tip: If you see the staff running out of a restaurant, follow them.
