Animated Obliviocy

A 10-second video was posted to Los Angeles, Calif., Police Officer Edgar Verduzco’s Instagram account. Apparently posted by Verduzco while off duty, it shows an animated figure driving a car on a bar, with a beer in the background. Below the car is the video’s hashtag message: “#dontdrinkanddrive”. Three hours later, Verduzco, 26, crashed his Camaro into two vehicles, killing Maribel and Mario Davila, and their son, Oscar. Verduzco was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. “I cannot tell you how angry and disappointed I am,” LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said, “that a Los Angeles police officer would disregard the law and cause an accident with such awful, awful consequences.” Verduzco was held on $100,000 bail.
