Another Beef
Mike Owings, 42, of Drapers BBQ in Carlisle County, Ky., and Mary Berry, 35, who lives in Kentucky but was working with FireHouse BBQ of Florida, were sharing a cooker. It was the Fifth Annual Kentucky Barbecue Festival, but matters between Owings and Berry were getting less than festive. They were arguing about the cooker — and then Owings allegedly threw a brisket at Berry. He told Danville police he didn’t intend to hurt anyone, but police say the $100, 200-degree-plus piece of beef burned Berry on the neck and shoulder. Berry was treated at the scene, and Owings was charged with a misdemeanor. (AC/WLEX Lexington) ...Worse, the brisket was ruined.Original Publication Date: 20 September 2015
