At Least She Didn’t Leave Them Defenseless
The Volusia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in Oak Hill. Deputies arrived to find a filthy house trailer: dogs loose inside had left feces on the floor; there was little food. The caller, a 3-year-old girl, was home alone with a 1-year-old boy, and both had soiled diapers. A deputy also found an unsecured shotgun — and ammunition — that was accessible to the children. The trailer park manager identified the resident as Yajaira Tirado, 26, and it took two hours to find her. Once they did, having coffee with a neighbor, Tirado said she had just popped out to grab some groceries from a friend, and had only been gone for “five minutes.” When the deputy told her how long he had been at the house, she admitted to lying — and to knowing the gun was not secured. Tirado was jailed, charged with child neglect, and released soon after on $5,000 bail. The father is now looking after the kids. (RC/Daytona Beach News-Journal) ...Sure the mom is negligent, but she did a great job teaching the girl how to call 911 in an emergency.Original Publication Date: 04 February 2018
